Is that normal?ĥ) I'm pretty sure the vacuum pump is working correctly, because the brakes still work fine. However, I noticed it takes a bit of effort to compress the vacuum diaphragm. It doesn't seem to be binding at all.Ĥ) The VNT actuator holds vacuum. This seems to fall within the range specified in the Bentley manual.ģ) The VNT lever on the turbo can be moved by hand through the entire range of motion. Here's the list of what I checked, and what I found:ġ) There is no check engine light, no stored trouble codes.Ģ) I checked the electrical resistance on the N75 solenoid with a multimeter, and it read about 18 Ohms (with the engine warm).
I checked some of the more obvious things. And fuel economy has gone down the toilet. The car feels sluggish, for obvious reasons. It will get up to maybe 6-8 PSI, and just hover around there. Now the boost never reaches 10 PSI (I can watch the boost levels on the ScanGauge). It felt just like the turbo lag when you have a big turbo and it takes a moment to spool up. The turbo would take a couple seconds to spool up whenever I tried to accelerate. First of all, the car is a 2002 Jetta TDI (ALH) with 5-speed gearbox.Ī few days ago, I noticed the car developed some noticeable 'turbo lag'.
